Last year, the city library collected 117 used books for its shelves. This year, it collected 3 times as many books. How many books did it collect this year?

Your answer is 351. The way I figured this out is deeply reading the question. The library had gotten 117 used books last year. They got 3 times as many as that. So, you basically add 117 plus 117 plus 117, or multiply 117 by 3. This would get you 351, if you do the math. Makes sense?
