Imagine hearing on the radio that the local weather agency has declared a high pollution advisory. What are the health risks of high concentrations of air pollution and what can be done on an individual basis to prevent or reduce problems associated with air pollution?

Answer:

The health risks of high concentrations of air pollution are aggravated cardiovascular and respiratory illness, added stress to heart and lungs, which must work harder to supply the body with oxygen, and damaged cells in the respiratory system. On an individual basis to prevent problems associated with air pollution a person could conserve energy, keep their car, boat, and other engines properly tuned, be sure their tires are properly inflated, and consider using gas logs instead of wood.

On an individual basis, to reduce air pollution stop using fossil fuels on a daily basis in his car (so switching from a fuel car to an electric car or at least a hybrid car would be a lot already). Another thing would be that important to do would be to stop spending resources such as wood for warming but to rather use a different energy source to heat up an appartment.
Generally when there is high air pollution, different infections of the nasal pathway could ensue due to it.
