La palabra para usar en el pasado es fue, nunca es hera.

Era (sin h) es cuando estás hablando en pasado. Por ejemplo: Ese vestido era mío.

Hera (con h) es cuando te refieres a algo novedoso. Por ejemplo: La Hera tecnológica ha cambiado el mundo.
