Abe, a plumber, charges $50 per hour plus $75 for making an in-home visit. The Plumbing Service charges $65 per hour but no set fee for a visit.How many hours of pluming work are needed for each to cost the same?

50x+75=65x
15x=75 /15
x= 5

Cost of Abe =
75 + 50x ....(1)

The Plumbing Service charges $65 per hour but no set fee for a visit.

Cost of Abe =
65x .... (2)

We need to find the hours of pluming work are needed for each to cost the same.

From (1) and (2) we get


75 + 50x=65x


75=65x-50x


75=15x

Divide both sides by 15.


5=x

Therefore, 5 hours of pluming work are needed for each to cost the same.
