Retail price of the balls = $1.43 each

Explanation:

Cost of the soccer balls = s

Cost of the soccer ball is marked up by 250% then selling price of the balls = s + 250% of s

=
s+(250)/(100)s

= s + 2.5s

= 3.5s

So the expression representing selling price of the balls after mark up will be = 3.5s

If selling price of the balls is $5 each then we have to find the retail cost of the soccer balls.

5 = 3.5s

s =
(5)/(3.5)

= $1.43

Retail price of the balls will be $1.43.
