if there is 21 plant and animal fossils and 4/7 are animal fossils then 3/7 of the fossils are plant fossils. Now just figure out how much 1/7 is.
21/7 = 3
so every 1/7 is 3

There are 12 animal fossils. I found this by dividing 21 by 7 and multiplying that answer by 4.
