you can also figure out how many blue are 10% of the bag by dividing both sides by 4

16/x / 4 = 40/100 / 4

4/x = 10/100

and if 4 gumballs is 10 % then you just need to multiply them both by 10 to get 100%

There are 40 gumballs. I set up an equation to find this answer: 16 = .4x. When I solved this, I got the answer 40.
