The predator is the animal that hunts. A cheetah is a predator because it hunts for its food. Prey is the animal that is hunted by their predator. Scavenger is not predator nor prey. They eat the remains of dead animals. Hope this helps =)

a predator is something that hunts something, e.g. a lion, wolves, eagle, etc.

Prey is the thing that the predator hunts. e.g. the prey of a lion would be a gazelle or a deer, the prey of wolves would be an elk or a deer, and the prey of an eagle would be a rabbit or a fish. hope this helps you!
