Given

Total quantity to make = 9 pounds of trail mix

Total cost to be incurred = $8 X 9 = $72

Let the 9 pounds of trail mix to contain x pounds of granola and nuts ( 9 - x) pounds of Assorted nuts.

Total cost of each components ;

Total cost of granola = $6.50x

Total cost of Assorted nuts = $9(9-x)

In trial mix ;

Total cost = Total cost of granola + Total cost of Assorted nuts

Now there are x pounds of granola = 3.6 pounds of granola

And there are ( 9- x ) pounds of Assorted nuts = 9 - 3.6 = 5.4 pounds of Assorted nuts
