take 3.99 x 45/100 and then add that to the original 3.99

3.99 x 45/100 = 1.80

1.80 + 3.99 = 5.79

$5.79

Answer: Final price of the comic book after it is marked up is $5.79.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

Cost of a comic book including tax = $3.99

According to question, it is given that it is marked up 45%,

3.99* (100+45)/(100)\\\\=3.99* (145)/(100)\\\\=(578.55)/(100)\\\\=\$5.785\\\\=\$5.79

Hence, final price of the comic book after it is marked up is $5.79.
