The answer is C) x = 5
Here are the steps I did.
1. Expand ( 2x + 8 = x + 13)
2. Subtract 8 from both sides ( 2x = x + 13 - 8)
3. Simplify x + 13 - 8 to x + 5 ( 2x = x + 5)
4. Subtract x from both sides ( 2x - x = 5)
5. Simplify 2x - x to x ( x = 5)
