A transatlantic voyage is one that goes across the ocean. For example the first transatlantic flight was from Long Island, NY to Paris in 1927. Transportation is not the only thing that can be transatlantic. There is also a transatlantic cable that stretches from Canada to Ireland. It was used for telegraph communications. There has been talk of a transatlantic tunnel for motor vehicles, but there are many obstacles in the way of that.
