(8)/(20) is how many
(1)/(100) th's of a ton?

You need to convert the fraction
(8)/(20) into hundredths by multiplying the top and bottom by 5. Because you are multiplying by
(5)/(5), or essentially by 1, this is allowable. You now have the fraction
(40)/(100), since 5 times 8 is 40, and 5 times 20 is 100.

Therefore the solution is
(40)/(100)
