a. Given:

(-4, 2) and (2, -4)

To find the equation of a line in the slope-intercept form:

Using the formula,

\begin{gathered} (y-y_1)/(y_2-y_1)=(x-x_1)/(x_2-x_1) \\ (y-2)/(-4-2)=(x-(-4))/(2-(-4)) \\ (y-2)/(-6)=(x+4)/(6) \\ (y-2)/(-1)=(x+4)/(1) \\ y-2=-x-4 \\ y=-x-4+2 \\ y=-x-2 \end{gathered}

Hence, the equation of the line is, y=-x-2.
