To convert mixed number fractions you can:
→ Convert them into improper fractions
→ Give the fractions common denominators
→ Subtract the two numerators, keeping the denominator
→ If necessary, simplify and convert your fraction back to a mixed number fraction
Example: 3 5/6 - 1 2/3
→ 23/6 - 5/3
→ 23/6 - 10/6
→ 13/6 = 2 1/6
∴ 3 5/6 - 1 2/3 = 13/6 OR 2 1/6
