True because aren't foliated rocks just squished sedimentary or igneous rocks (pressure and heat)

The given statement is true.

The metamorphic rocks are the rocks formed by the metamorphosis of the sedimentary and the igneous rocks due to presnece of high pressure and heat. These rocks can be either foliated or non foliated.

The foliated forms of the rocks show the realignment of the minerals due to high pressure and temperature. Due to the realignment, the different minerals represent a specific line and the direction of the pressure. The direction of the pressure is perpendicular to the mineral alignments.
