The answer is 66,000
you use 35/100 multiplied by x = 89100 - x
35x = 100(89100-x)
35x = 8910000-100x
135x=8910000
x=8910000/135
x=66000

original population times 1.35 will give that population plus 35% increase.
1.35x = 89,100
x = 66,000
