How does geography affects communities such as manhattan, Staten Island and Brooklyn?

Landmarks or landforms impact communities massively. Take Manhattan for example. The borough is very popular for a reason. 9/11 happened 15 years ago. It is now the One World Trade Center. Manhattan is very popular for this, and so is many landforms that may be there *or nearby*. Same with Staten Island and Brooklyn. I don't know much about those 2 boroughs, but its the same concept.
