The two shorter sides of a triangle are the same length. The length of the longer side is 5 m longer than each of the shorter sides. The perimeter of the triangle is 29 m. Write and solve an equation to determine the length of the longest side of the triangle. Explain each step you perform.

x is the length of the shorter sides and x+5 is the length of the longer side, the perimeter is the 3 sides lengths added together then you solve for x the then the long side (x+5) to get 13.

Step 1: let x be the length of the two shorter sides and x+5 be the length of the longer side
Step 2: perimeter= the lengths of the three sides added together
Step 3: solve for x
Step 4: the longer side = x+5
So, the answer is 13.

Hope this helps!!
