Many simple inequalities can be solved by adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing both sides until you are left with the variable on its own. We calculate as follows:
8y – 24 > –16
8y – 24 + 24 > –16 + 24
8y > 8
8y > 8
y > 1 ---------> OPTION C
