Let x is the price he original paid for the car
2/5x + 200 = 8,400
2/5x = 8,400 - 200
2/5x = 8,200
x = 8,200 : (2/5)
x = 8,200 * 5/2 ....reciprocal
x = 20,500
answer: Mr. Kork had paid $20,500 for the car
