I believe the correct answer from the choices listed above is the first option. It is chlorine that tends to form anions when bonding with other elements. When it bonds to other elements it accepts electrons making it a charged atom. The charged atom will have a charge of -1 and is called as chloride ion.

Answer:

  • Chlorine

Step-by-step explanation

  • Chlorine is electronegative, it gain the electron and form anion which form ionic bond with cation

Example:

  • NaCl In this example Na is cation while Cl is anion.

Lithium is electropositive which mainly form cation

Magnesium is also electropositive known as metal that from cation

Neon is Nobel gas which is least reactive due to complete valence. It never want to loose or gain electrons.
