7 and one-half times the number of voter in the election is 90,000. How many persons voted?

well, if this is the way I see it then you're basically saying 7.5 times an unknown number (or a variable) is equal to 90,000. That to me would be 90,000 divided by 7.5 which would mean 12,000 people voted.
