Oil spills and or over-fishing threaten our marine ecosystem.

Other elements that constitute severe threats to our marine ecosystem include: ocean dumping, land runoff, dredging, NOx and SOx, ocean acidification, sea water level rising, ozone depleting substances, waste pollution from ships, noise pollution from ships. oil spills and plastic pollution.

Consistent increase in the level of pollutants has degraded water bodies across the world to levels of irreparable damage. According to some researches carried out, 80 per cent of marine pollution originates on land, in different forms of pollutant, and most of the stems from human activities.
