The best thing to do is to find out what 1% is. To do this, you have to divide 300 by 100, 300/100= 3. Therefore, 4% must be 3x4, which is 12. Therefore, 4% of £300 is £12 Hope this helps :)

So,
You could do it 2 ways:
1:
Find 1% of 300
To find 1% move the decimal point 2 places to the left.
300 ==> 3.00 or 3
Next you multiply that number by whatever amount percent you need.
In this case:
3(4) = x
12 = x
2:
Multiply 300 by .4
300(.4) = x
12 = x
I prefer the first one, but it's your choice.
