9x + 12 + 3x = 180

12x + 12 = 180 ( subtract 12 from both sides )

12x = 168 ( divide both sides by 12 )

x = 14, so

3x = 3 × 14 = 42

3x and 4y - 10 are adjacent angles and supplementary, then

3x + 4y - 10 = 180

42 + 4y - 10 = 180

4y + 32 = 180 ( subtract 32 from both sides )

4y = 148 ( divide both sides by 4 )

y = 37
