The correct answer is C. That is why earthquakes still ocurr today. Continental plates move towards eachother, clash, cause friction, and then create earthquakes. After the earthquakes, the continental plates deflect off of eachother, causing the plates to clash with other plates adjacent to the ones they just hit. Hope that made sense.
