Lung cancer has several risk factors, but discarding those that cannot be avoided such as family history and environmental pollution. We have factors that can be attenuated with preventive measures. These include exposure to tobacco smoke either as a passive or active smoker, which is the most important risk factor; exposure to radioactive elements such as radon which is common indoors such as basements; toxic elements such as asbestos, which causes inflammation and cancer when exposed for long periods of time; and even some dietary supplements such as beta-carotene, which is believed to increase cancer survival by decreasing oxidative stress.

The way we can reduce these factors is by eating a healthy diet, avoiding smoking and avoiding exposure to toxic or radioactive elements, and in case it cannot be avoided for any reason, make sure to use appropriate personal protective measures to reduce exposure.
