A business traveler rents a car for $75 a day, and $0.50 for each mile. If the trip will last 3 days and the traveler can spend no more than $400, how many miles can be driven? Explain your reasoning and express the formula as an inequality.

300 because 75/50 would be 1.50 so if 1.50 is multiplied by 50 it is 75 then you do 75x4 which is 300 so 200 is oyur answer

Answer: The number of miles would be no more than 350 miles.

Explanation:

Let the number of days be 'd'.

Let number of miles be 'm'.

Cost of each day = $75

Cost of each mile = $0.50

Total amount must be no more than $400.

According to question, it becomes,

75d+0.50m\leq 400

Since the number of days = 3

So, we put the value of days in the above equation:

75* 3+0.50m\leq 400\\\\225+0.50m\leq 400\\\\0.50m\leq 400-225\\\\0.50m\leq 175\\\\m\leq (175)/(0.50)\\\\m\leq 350

Hence, the number of miles would be no more than 350 miles.
