Subtract 2x from each side which gives you 5x=-35. Divide each side which gives you x=-7. Plugin in -7 to check you're correct.

Transfer the 2x to the other side.
7x=2x-35
7x-2x=-35
5x=-35 (divide by 5)
x=-7 done!
