Answer:

Total area = 232.5 m²

Total cost to paint the area = £139.5

Explanation:

Area of the composite figure = Area of trapezoid A + Area of rectangle B + Area of trapezoid C

Area of trapezoid A =
(1)/(2)(b_1+b_2)h

Here,
b_1 and
b_2 are the parallel sides and h is the distance between them.

Area of A =
(1)/(2)(8+10)4

= 36 square meter

Area of rectangle B = Length × width

= 12 × 10

= 120 m²

Area of trapezoid C =
(1)/(2)(10+7)(9)

= 76.5 m²

Therefore, area of the composite figure = 36 + 120 + 76.5

= 232.50 m²

Cost of paint = £6 for a tin that covers 10 m²

Therefore, total cost to paint the given figure =
(6)/(10)* 232.5

= £139.5
