The early Americans were not the people who chose the best moment to move across the world. When they decided to move, they had food, but only for a while. After a while they ran out of food and they had nothing to eat. Also, when the cold came they needed fur to keep warm. The answer to have fur to be warm and to eat was to hunt. They hunted many animals to use their fur and later on eat them for their dinner. They "gathered" food which meant they fished for their food at the nearest bay.
