7X+1=X+4
-1 =X+4 -1
7X-1X=X+3 -X
6X/6=3/6
X=1/2

step1: combine like terms, -3x+10x-x=4-1
step2: solve the each side, 6x=3
step3: divide 6 by both sides to get x only6x\6=3\6
finally, you will get X=1\2
