Combustion can be defined as the process in which the organic material is burned in presence of oxygen to produce carbon dioxide and energy.

This is useful because combustion provides it is provides enormous amount of energy which is used to run machines and provide heat.

It is harmful because it causes pollution in the environment as carbon dioxide is harmful for the animals and human beings above the permissible limit.
