4) After the Capulets’ ball, Romeo hides from Mercutio and Benvolio and goes looking for Juliet.
This is the first event. It starts off the act. At this point, Romeo and Juliet have had to say goodbye. Afterwards they learn each other's identity. Determined to see her again Romeo steals away from his friends and back into Juliet's courtyard. This then begins the famous balcony scene...
1) Romeo and Juliet declare their love for each other at Juliet’s balcony and make plans to get married.
Juliet, thinking she's speaking only to herself, reveals her love for Romeo despite his family name. Romeo then declares his love. They decided to get married the next day after Romeo arranges the ceremony.
5) Romeo leaves Juliet to find Friar Laurence and convince him to help them get married in secret.
Friar Laurence agrees to marry the young lovers in hopes that their marriage will stop the hatred between the families. Romeo must then get word to Juliet that everything is in order for the wedding so he awaits her nurse.
2) Romeo is joking around with Mercutio and Benvolio when Juliet’s nurse arrives to find out about his plans.
The nurse listens to Romeo's plans and then communicates with him how he will be able to climb into Juliet's room that night after they've been married.
6) Juliet’s nurse conveys Romeo’s message and helps Juliet secretly go to Friar Laurence’s cell.
The nurse returns to give Juliet the message from Romeo. Since she is comedic relief in this tragedy, she slowly stretches out the news since she is enjoying all the attention Juliet is giving her while she waits. After learning of the plans, Juliet gets ready to go to church to meet Romeo.
3) Juliet arrives at Friar Laurence’s cell, and he marries the young couple in the hope that their love will end their families’ feud.
Yay! They are happily married! Woohoo....until they die.
