A) Antietam.
This battle was not only know for being the the bloodiest, but also it was the war to end slavery. The Emancipation Proclamation was issued only 5 days after that battle. Lincoln needed that Union battle so the proclamation could be issued.

The answer is A) Antietam.

Why is it A)? because the Battle of Antietam took place in Sharpsburg, Maryland. The Confederate foray into Union territory proved roundly unsuccessful, though both sides lost tens of thousands of troops in a matter of just hours.
