Janice is unsure about her future career path. She has grown up on her family farm, but she is also interested in medicine. Janice becomes a member of the FFA and SkillsUSA to try to learn more about the fields and decide between them. What would be more helpful to Janice?

Answer:

Since Janice decided to join both the Future Farmers of America and SkillUSA, she should try to use the information they provide her about her career options.

Obviously the FFA will send her material about how great it will be to be a farmer in the US in the near future. Believe it or not, new technology has enabled farmers to make a lot of money and new products and technologies should make that career even more profitable. Modern farmers have changed a lot form the usual redneck stereotype, they now have to study and a lot to learn about new farming techniques.

On the other hand, SkillsUSA will allow her to participate in different activities in health occupations. They will probably send her information about the shortage of doctors in the country and how they are very well paid, how easy it has become to find new jobs, etc.

So when Janice gets all the possible advantages of each career, then she will be able to make an educated choice.
