the amount of sales tax
299.00×0,06=17,94
the total amount
299.00+17,94=316,94$

Sales tax: tax rate * cost before tax = 6% * $299.00 = $ 6*299.00/100 = $ 17.94
Total bill = cost before tax + tax = $299.00 + $17.94 = $ 316.94
