Cost of the basic car bought by John Gray = $8250
Optional cost incurred after buying = $324
Total cost before tax = 8250 + 324
= $8574
Percentage of sales tax incurred = 6%
Amount of sales tax charged = (6/100) * 8574
= $514.44
License and registration fees paid = $50
John's total cost = 8250 + 324 + 514.44 + 50
= 9138.44 dollars
From the above deduction, it can be easily concluded that the correct option among all the options that are given in the question is the first option or option "A".
