Find the equation of a line perpendicular to y - 3x = – 8 that passes through the point (3, 2). (answer in slope-intercept form)

Perpendicular means that you will flip and change sign in this case we have -3 when we flip it and change sign we will get 1/3
So,

First we have to find b:

2=1/3(3)+b
2=1+b
1=b

Second you just write your equation:

Y= 1/3x + 1

so you would plug it into y-y1 = m (x-x1)

so the perpendicular slope would be 1/3

y - 2 = 1/3 (x - 3)

y - 2 =- 1/3(x) - 1/3(-3)

y = 1/3x + 1 + 2

answer = y = -1/3x + 3
