Many writers wrote books capturing the effect for instance John Steinbeck wrote Of Mice and Men which was about two migrant ranch workers who move from place to place all over California in search of jobs during the Great Depression. That same author wrote The Grapes of Wrath which focused on a family living in Oklahoma during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. A photographer named Dorothea Lange took the very famous photo titled "Migrant Mother" which was of a mother and two of her six children during the Great Depression. Those are just a few examples, hope it helped.
