I would say, A., to collect details. Cubing in pre-writing is meant to force the writer to think and re-think the topic, and allow the writer to explore the various aspects of that topic. We all know that a cube has six sides. If you had to describe that cube, you would try to discuss each side of the object. So, the purpose of cubing is to collect details. :)
