The leg of the hypotenuse of a right triangle is 13 cm. The length of one leg is 5 cm. Find the length of the other leg.

A) 14 cm
B) 144 cm
C) 8 cm
D) 12 cm

a^2 + b^2 = c^2....and c is the hypotenuse

5^2 + b^2 = 13^2
25 + b^2 = 169
b^2 = 169 - 25
b^2 = 144
b = sqrt 144...if u take sqrt of both sides, it eliminates the ^2
b = 12....so the other leg is 12 cm.

you can find the answer by using angle sum property

so it will be like this

5^2+b^2=13^2

25+b^2=169

b^2= 169-25
b^2=114
b = square root of 114 that is
b=12
