First, you have to get all the variables on one side, so you use inverse operations.
h+20=35-4h
+4h +4h
------------------
5h+20=35
Next, you solve as a two-step equation.
5h+20=35
-20 -20
-----------------
5h=15
(1/5) 5h+15 (1/5)
h=3
