The water that falls from the sky today as rain may have once been part of the ocean. How can this be?

there is precipitation or because of the water cycle

That is because when the sun shines among the ocean and starts to evaporate the water, it takes that water up into the water cycle and later transforms that water vapor into condensation, meaning rain.
