Why might some African countries use a European language as a “trade language”?

It's not A, as they simply aren't forced to.

It's not C, as Africa is not 'just' a colony; infact, empires and therefore colonies are no longer allowed among the UN.

D is incredibly stupid.

The correct answer is B) It's a more common language.

Some African countries use a European language as a “trade language” because it's a more common language.

When conducting business in today's global scenario, English in the "universal" language that people use to trade. African countries use English, but also French, and even German, to conduct business. With the use of a common "trade" language, countries can better understand each other and work better deals.
