To be classified as an Improper Fraction, a fraction must have a numerator greater than or equal to the denominator.

Therefore
(9)/(7) is an improper fraction.

1) Since in 9/7 the numerator: 9 is greater than 7, the denominator. We are going to need an extra bar. So this is why we have two bars of candy to represent 9/7

2) But how can we turn it into a mixed number? By making a division, placing the numbers, appropriately like the figure shows.

3) Now, we can set the Mixed number which is 1 (integer) and 2/7. We can see that, 9/7 and 1 (integer) and 2/7 represent the same amount of candy drops.
