two identical steel balls mounted on wooden posts initially have different amounts of charge, one with -14uC and the other with -2uC. the balls are allowed to touch then separated again. what is the final charge on each ball?

Answer:

Both steel balls will have charge equal to
-8\mu c

Step-by-step explanation:

We have given that charge on the balls initially are
Q_1=-14\mu c

And
Q_2=-2\mu c

We have to find the charge on the both balls when they are touhed to each other

We know that when two charge particles are come together then charge is equally distributed

So charge on each ball will be equal to
Q=(Q_1+Q_2)/(2)=(-14-2)/(2)=-8\mu c

So both steel balls will have charge equal to
-8\mu c

According to the Law of Conservation of Charge, the net charge remains constant. If both things have different charges, upon contact, they would share the charge equally. In this case, the total charge is -16μC. The final charge for each ball would be -8 μC.
