Shen will rent a car for the weekend. He can choose one of two plans. The first plan has an initial fee of $49.96 and costs an additional $0.12 per mile driven. The second plan has an initial fee of $35.96 and costs an additional $0.17 per mile driven. How many miles would Shen need to drive for the two plans to cost the same?

Answer: The two equations are:

y=.17x+35.96

y=.12x+49.96

He would have to drive 280 miles for both of them to cost the same.
