What is the answer this one made me sooo stumped!!

A bat and a ball cost one dollar and ten cents in total. The bat costs a dollar more than the ball. How much does the ball cost?

the ball costs 5 cents.  1.05+.05=1.10 (1.05=the price of the bat, .05= the price of the ball)

The ball costs ten cents. If the total cost is $1.10 and the bat costs $1 more than the ball then the only logical cost for the ball is $0.10 because $1 +$0.10= $1.10, which is the cost we are looking for.
